Sites list and bulk actions

Find every site in your company, filter and save views, act on one site from its row, and run one action across many sites at once.

The Sites list shows every site in your company in one table and lets you act on one site, or on many at once, without opening each one.

Open it

  1. Sign in to the dashboard.
  2. Choose Sites in the sidebar.

Each row shows the site name with its status: Live or Staging for the environment the row shows, Creating... while the site is set up, or Failed. Then come Visits, Bandwidth, Disk usage, PHP, WP version, and Updates. Wider screens also show labels and location. On a phone, and in Grid view, each site is a card instead of a row.

  • Visits and Bandwidth count this billing period, live and staging together, from the same numbers as plan usage. A dash means nothing has been measured yet.
  • Updates shows a dash for now. Open the site's Plugins or Themes tab to see which updates are waiting.
  • While a site is created, its figures show grey bars until it is ready.

Your first site

With no sites yet, the Sites list shows Create your first WordPress site instead of the table. Create site opens the create form. Without a plan, people who can buy see Start a plan first, and a test site where test sites are on. Open chat opens a chat with our team. Below it are what every site gets and links to the help center. People whose role cannot add sites see a short message instead.

Use the list and grid buttons at the right of the toolbar to switch views. The dashboard remembers your choice in this browser. Refresh reloads the list.

Find a site

Type in the search box to search by name. Use All labels and All sites to filter by label or by status (Live, Staging only, Setting up, or Needs attention). Filters holds the location and PHP version filters. Select a column heading to sort the sites on the page.

Through the API you can also filter by node. See Site labels for how labels are made.

Save a view

A saved view keeps a set of filters so you can come back to it later.

  1. Set the search and filters you want.
  2. Choose Saved views.
  3. Save the current filters under a name.

Later, pick the view from Saved views to apply it again, or delete it from the same menu when you no longer need it.

Act on one site

Use the three dot menu at the end of a row (or at the top of a card) to:

  • Open the site.
  • Visit the site in a new tab.
  • Clear the server cache.
  • Restart PHP.

Clearing the cache and restarting PHP each run as a job, and the dashboard shows the progress. See Jobs and progress.

Act on many sites

  1. Tick the rows you want.
  2. Choose the action: clear the server cache, change the PHP version, or add and remove labels.
  3. Confirm.

Avaloi runs the change as one job group with one child job per site, and shows how many sites are done. Each site gets its own result, so one failure does not stop the others.

Add a site

Add site opens a menu: Add a site, or Add a test site where test sites are on. It opens the create form. Pick a name, a starting point, a data center location, and a PHP version. Creating a site starts a provisioning job and opens the job details on its own.

Real sites need a plan. When you have a plan, the header shows how many sites you have of the slots your plans include, such as 2 / 5 sites, over a thin bar that changes color when every slot is in use. Without a plan you can create a test site instead. A test site runs on a simulated server, costs nothing, and works in every tab, so you can try everything Avaloi does.

Quick answers

Why does the API return 402 when I create a site? Your company has no plan. Set test to true in the request to create a test site instead.

Does sorting apply to the whole company? Sorting applies to the sites on the current page. A saved view does not keep a sort by Visits or Bandwidth; it sorts by name instead.

Where do I see how a bulk action went? Open Jobs in the top bar. The job group shows one progress bar and a result for each site.
