Add-ons

Add disk space to your plan, turn on hourly backups, external backups, and the Redis object cache, create premium staging environments, and ask Avaloi for a dedicated server, disaster recovery, a reverse proxy, and Safe Updates.

Parts of this feature are still being built. The Not yet section lists them.

Open a site and choose Add-ons in the site menu. Each add-on is a card with its name, what it does, and its price. The one button on the right of the card does the thing:

  • Add to plan adds disk space to your account right away. See Additional disk space.
  • Enable turns the add-on on right away: hourly backups for the environment selected at the top of the page, external backups by connecting your bucket, and the Redis object cache.
  • Create new environment opens the Create environment dialog with premium staging chosen. The card also shows your premium slots: included, bought, in use, and free, and which environment uses which. Remove a slot ends a bought slot that is free.
  • Request add-on sends a request to the Avaloi team, for the add-ons we apply by hand.

Once an add-on is on, the card says so, and the button becomes Change or Manage. Disk space has Remove, and hourly backups have Disable, to undo the add-on.

Owners, admins, and billing users can buy, change, and remove add-ons and send requests. Other members see the cards without buttons. Connecting a bucket for external backups also needs database access.

Prices and billing

Prices come from the Avaloi price list. A card shows the price per month, such as 20 USD / month, or per backup for external backups.

When you buy or change an add-on yourself, the dialog shows the monthly total before you confirm. It is billed from the next invoice, prorated today: your next invoice has the rest of this month, and after that the monthly total bills with your plan. A purchase needs a saved card. Without one, the dialog says so and links to Payment methods.

When you remove or disable an add-on, it ends now, and the unused days of this month are credited to your account. When you change one, the old one is credited the same way and the new one is billed from today.

When an add-on is free for the first month, the card says after the first month next to the price, and a banner at the top of the tab says so. Today the price list waives the first month for one add-on only.

Custom pricing means we quote the price for your sites when you send a request. A dedicated server is priced this way.

The add-ons

Add-on Button How it works
Additional disk space Add to plan 20 GB blocks, 1 to 10, shared by every site on your account. See Additional disk space.
Premium staging environments Create new environment Each premium staging environment has half of live's PHP threads and memory and is counted apart from standard staging. It uses a premium slot: your plan's first, then slots you buy for 20 USD a month. When none is free, creating the environment buys one, after the dialog shows the monthly price and the amount charged today. A bought slot stays and bills until you click Remove a slot on the card. See Premium staging environments.
Dedicated server Request add-on We set up a server for your sites and move them for you.
Disaster recovery Request add-on A standby copy in a second data center. Only for dedicated servers.
Avaloi Safe Updates Request add-on Staging based: updates run and get checked on staging, and reach live when you promote staging. The checks are not built yet, so we apply this by hand.
Reverse proxy Request add-on Serve another site or application from a path on this site's domain, such as /blog.
Redis object cache Enable or Disable Turning it on or off runs as a job on the site's server; follow it on the Jobs page. The job checks that WordPress uses Redis before it succeeds, and the card says Enabled and verified. See Object cache.
Hourly backups Enable Every 6 hours or every hour, per environment, each backup kept 24 hours. See Hourly backups.
External backups Enable Opens the connect dialog for your own bucket. Billed per backup while a bucket is connected. See Off-site backups.

When a server did not apply it

Disk space changes the disk quota of each environment with a job on its server. If a job fails, the purchase still went through, and the card shows a plain warning with Retry. Retry runs the job again for the environments that still need it. It never charges again.

Requests

When you choose Request add-on, you can add a note for our team, such as the sizes you need or a good time for the change. After you send it, the card shows Requested on and the date, and the button stays off until we answer. When we apply the add-on, the card shows Enabled for this site and the button changes to Request a change.

Each company can send 10 requests in 24 hours. You can only have one open request per add-on on a site.

API and assistants

  • Read the add-ons of a site with GET /v1/sites/{id}/add-ons. Add ?environment_id= to see hourly backups for another environment.
  • Buy or change disk space, hourly backups, or external backups with POST /v1/sites/{id}/add-ons/{addon_id}/purchase, turn one off with .../cancel, and run the server work again with .../retry. A premium staging slot is not bought there: create the environment with POST /v1/sites/{id}/environments and confirm_premium_charge set to true, and remove a bought slot with POST /v1/sites/{id}/add-ons/{addon_id}/cancel with premium_staging as the add-on. These need the billing:write scope, and a purchase with an API key needs confirm: true. Each company can make 20 purchases an hour.
  • Send a request with POST /v1/sites/{id}/add-on-requests.
  • Assistants use the MCP tools list_site_add_ons, add_disk_space, enable_add_on, disable_add_on (also for a premium staging slot), create_environment (premium staging), and request_add_on. Every tool that bills or removes an add-on asks you first.

Quick answers

Why is the Request add-on button grey? You already have an open request for that add-on on this site. We will contact you about it.

When am I charged for a requested add-on? Only after we apply it. We confirm the price with you first.

Can I turn off an add-on that Avaloi applied for me? Choose Request a change on its card and tell us in the note.

Not yet

  • Avaloi Safe Updates works by request, because the visual checks of your pages around updates are not built yet.
  • Avaloi staff do not get an email for new requests unless the staff list is set. They read the request queue in the API.
