Passwords

Set a password of 12 or more characters, change it under Security, and reset a forgotten one from the sign-in page.

Set a password of 12 to 128 characters. Avaloi hashes passwords with Argon2id and rejects common passwords from a local list, so nothing about your password leaves Avaloi. The full article is Sign in and passwords.

Change your password

  1. Open Account settings, then Security.
  2. Under Password, enter your current password and a new one.
  3. Save. Avaloi emails you and ends your other sessions.

Reset a forgotten password

  1. On the sign-in page, choose Forgot your password?
  2. Enter your email. Avaloi shows the same confirmation whether or not the address has an account.
  3. Open the link in the email. It works once and expires in 30 minutes.
  4. Set a new password. Every session ends.

Companies that require single sign-on refuse password sign-in for their domains, except for the Owner and the exceptions list.

Rules

  • 12 to 128 characters.
  • Not a common password, a repeated pattern, a run such as 123456789012, or a common word with digits around it.
  • Not your name or the first part of your email address.

Quick answers

Avaloi rejected a password I like. It is on the common list or follows a common pattern. Add words or characters, or use a few random words.

I reset my password and my phone signed out. A reset or a change ends every other session on purpose. Sign in again on that device.

Can support reset my password in chat? No. Use Forgot your password?. If you cannot reach the inbox, file a recovery request from the sign-in page. Support needs two of three proofs and never completes recovery in chat.
